Minnie Mouse Chocolate Cake with Oreo Flavoured Fresh Cream

This was a cake I created for my nieces birthday party. It was delicate chocolate sponge sandwiched together with luscious oreo flavoured fresh cream

I actually baked a 12inch round cake, which was then cut to shape to resemble Minnie mouse. I then covered the face in the relevant colours of fondant. I then used a edible icing pen in Black to outline the face and facial features!

The bow was also made and shaped with fondant. Please find recipe below.

Ingredients

For the cake

  • Preheat the oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4. Grease and line two 20cm/8in sandwich tins.
  • For the cake, place all of the cake ingredients, except the boiling water, into a large mixing bowl. Using a wooden spoon, or electric whisk, beat the mixture until smooth and well combined.
  • Add the boiling water to the mixture, a little at a time, until smooth. (The cake mixture will now be very liquid.)
  • Divide the cake batter between the sandwich tins and bake in the oven for 25–35 minutes, or until the top is firm to the touch and a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.

For oreo cream

Ingredients:

  • 1 tub fresh double cream
  • 1 pack oreos

Method:

  • Seal oreos in a food bag, smash with a rolling pin until resembles crumbs
  • Whip cream to soft peaks, combine both.
